Anele Ngcwabe - Co-founder, Apostle Movement

In 2009, our first cohort of scholars started their high school scholarship journeys. Now, more than a decade later, they are making waves in various industries. Anele is no exception.

What led you to co-founding the Apostle Movement?

We started the business on the foundation that it would approach employment, nurturing young indi- viduals and their talent in the work- place differently. Workplaces can be stressful, leading to high levels of stress and anxiety. Our mission is to create a space that allows young individuals a place to test and grow their capabilities, and for us to nurture and guide where appropriate. Our country has so much talent, but very little opportunity amongst the youth. For all the opportunities we have received and lessons learnt, we want to afford others the same to realise their potential. We are a Growth Marketing Agency that creates new revenue streams for post-revenue businesses while helping them create a stronger brand presence in their markets. We provide inbound and outbound marketing services, while also creating and launching B2C paid media campaigns.

How did SBF affect your life?

The organisation taught me discipline, and that I was solely responsible for my decisions and actions. SBF always wanted us to have the freedom to express ourselves in our environments, but also to understand that we had a responsibility to meet certain standards or even excel. It was about finding a balance and that in itself was a life skill which I lean on today.

Which of the SBF power skills have helped you most?

Self-management and being agile. My main support structure in high school and my first few years at varsity was SBF. The organisation assisted with resources, the opportunity and support, but it was really up to me to make the most of it. As a teen at that time, there were many different areas of my life that I had to navigate. There were incredible highs and painful lows. Circumstances were always changing and I had to be prepared for all kinds of changes and conditions in the midst of the day-to-day activities at the time.
